Here’s the truth: No matter how well-crafted your company-wide messages are, they only go so far without manager support.

Managers are the all-important bridge between leadership and employees.

They are essential for ensuring key messages stick throughout the organization. Beyond that, their interactions with team members directly reflect how those employees feel about working at the organization. 


But too often, we drop complex messages in their laps—or worse, expect them to absorb key updates in a town hall like everyone else—without equipping them to answer questions, personalize the message, or lead meaningful conversations with their teams.


That changes today.


Equip Managers to Lead the Conversation


If you want internal comms to truly resonate, managers need the tools to turn top-down messaging into real, engaging dialogue. Here’s how:


Pre-Frame Big Changes: Before launching a new initiative—whether it’s a product rollout, reorg, or policy update—arm managers with key talking points, FAQs, and “what this means for you” breakdowns tailored to their teams.


Create Conversation Toolkits: Not every manager is a natural communicator, and that’s okay. Provide easy-to-use guides with sample scripts, discussion prompts, and suggested ways to check in with employees so they feel comfortable leading the conversation.


Encourage Two-Way Dialogue: Give managers clear guidance on how to collect and escalate employee feedback, ensuring communication isn’t just a one-way street. This builds trust and helps leadership stay connected to what’s happening on the ground.


Reinforce, Don’t Just Announce: A single email or town hall isn’t enough. Equip managers with follow-up messages, key themes to reinforce in team meetings, and pulse check questions to keep the conversation alive.


When managers feel prepared, employees feel informed, engaged, and connected to the bigger picture. And that’s when internal comms becomes more than just messaging—it becomes a movement.
